Romanse is the Death of Intellect cover art

Brooklyn electronic artist/producer Radio Shock, aka MP Lockwood, has a new EP out, Romanse is the Death of Intellect. The six tracks are full on glitch affairs, with disjointed sounds, noise and out of control synths. Melody is stark and anything resembling conventional electronic genres nonexistent. Lockwood explores the experimental side of electronic music, relying on noise oscillations, heavy glitch synthesizers and unconventional guitar parts to create a dissonant cacophony of sound. Suburban Campers: Somerspace Canopy

Somerspace Canopy cover art

San Diego band Suburban Campers have released their sophomore EP, Somerspace Canopy on Atlanta label Human Sounds Records. The five tracks are a collection of poppy, reverby SoCal indie, in the same vein as so many other bands such as Wavves, Best Coast, etc. There is little here to distinguish this record. Musically weaker than the other bands mentioned, with lackluster production, this EP misses the mark. The band is good, but in a landscape of so may similar, they just don't step up. Stream and buy a limited edition cassette of Somerspace Canopy at the link below.

No Love: Tape #2

Tape #2 cover art

Sorry State Records has picked up Raleigh, NC punkers No Love for their sophomore EP, Tape #2. The four tracks are hard edged punk reminiscent of bands like the Buzzcocks. This EP is marked by a dense combination of melodic bass lines, dueling lead guitar and anthemic vocals. Punk as a genre never seems to want for new edgy bands to continue carrying the banner into the future and No Love are certainly worthy flag bearers. Stream and download Tape #2 at the link below.
